A new identity for the Synopsys Software Integrity Group

As was announced in May, Synopsys is selling the Software Integrity Group to Clearlake Capital Group and Francisco Partners. We are progressing well on our way to being a strong and formidable standalone company and expect the deal to close in the coming months. Customers and partners will continue to receive information regularly as we progress through the transition.

We are extremely excited about this inflection point in our history. In very short time, we have established ourselves as the leader in application security testing (AST), and we now have strong backers who excel at carving out technology businesses and fueling them for growth. In other words, I expect that we’re only going to get better. As a standalone company that is already profitable as we emerge, we will continue to deliver the world-class products and services that our customers have come to expect while accelerating innovation. It promises to be a potent combination.

Synopsys has been an extremely supportive partner for our team, and with that support, the Software Integrity Group has enjoyed unprecedented success. Over the last decade, we have grown into the most comprehensive provider of AST solutions and received clear validation from industry analysts, including seven-time Leader in the Gartner® Magic QuadrantTM for AST, and Leaders in the Forrester WavesTM for software composition analysis (SCA) and static application security testing (SAST).

Within Synopsys, we have operated as a standalone business unit, with independent R&D, Services, Support, Sales, and Marketing functions. Anything and everything that has to do with delivering products and services to our customers, and all our customer interactions, were already dedicated to our business unit and will continue to be with even greater focus. This positions us well to transition to an independent company.

Because these critical functions are in place and operating at a high level, we have maintained business momentum throughout the transition process. In fact, we’ve launched three new innovative solutions this year:

The journey of the Software Integrity Group to an independent company will have multiple steps and milestones. Clearlake and Francisco Partners have an unmatched track record of carving out other technology businesses and then scaling them to achieve accelerated growth. Their domain expertise is helping us stay focused on delivering on our commitments to our customers.

Communications during this process is key, and there is one milestone I want to call to your attention. Our business unit, previously known as the Software Integrity Group, has been officially renamed as Black Duck Software, Inc., a subsidiary of Synopsys. As part of that process, starting on August 10, communications from the Synopsys Software Integrity Group will now come from Black Duck Software, Inc. This includes email, billing and invoices, and other formal communications. For example, you will see emails from us using the blackduck.com email domain. Look for communications from us under the new name and please set your spam filters accordingly. We wouldn’t want you to miss the next great thing that we do.

With renewed confidence, energy, and commitment, we will continue to build trust in software by providing the best application security solutions in the world to our customers. With that as our guiding principle, we look forward to the journey ahead. Throughout this process, our customers can feel secure that they will receive the excellent level of services they have come to expect from us, and those looking for AST solutions can be confident that we can address their needs. As such, we will be in active communications throughout the transition and beyond.
